Raw Cat Food

What Do Cats Eat?

The first, and most important, fact to understand is that cats are obligate carnivores. A carninnvore is a meat-eater, but obligate means that it is absolutely necessary for survival. As cats categorically must have meat, you might be surprised to learn that most commercial cat food contains less than 10% meat. And it's usually not the good stuff either, typically meat derivatives. While cats are obligate carnivores they have not evolved to process cereals and grains which most manufacturers use to bulk up cat food. Cats also typically don't have a thirst drive and so need to absorb moisture from their food.

What Is Raw Cat Food?

The most natural way to feed your cat is to replicate the whole prey diet with raw meat and bones in the ratio of 80% meat, 10% bone and 10% offal. Cats also need taurine though, and while some will be present in meat, the best source of taurine is heart.

Unique Raw

Unique Raw follows the 80/10/10 approach to raw food with no added vegetables, herbs or supplements, and all recipes contain 10% heart so that they are suitable for cats as well. Two recipes contain only 5% bone, while one recipe has 20% bone and one is bone free. There are a number of chicken-free options. All flavours come in a 1kg tub and some flavours are offered in a 500g tub.
