Treating Your Pet Properly
Treating Your Pet Properly
My mission for the shop is to help local folk treat their pets properly, in all senses of the phrase. I am passionate about pet health, But treating your pet properly is more than just food, treats and supplements, it’s about thinking about their holistic needs.
I am very excited to announce that Lulu’s Pet Pantry is now open full time: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday and 9am-1pm on Saturday. My mission for the shop is to help local folk treat their pets properly, in all senses of the phrase.

I am passionate about pet health and a firm believer that raw food is the most natural way to feed your cat or dog. If you are thinking about changing your pet over to a raw diet, come and talk it through with me so I can help you find the right product. However, I also understand that raw food might not be suitable for some owners, or pets, and therefore I stock good wet and dry alternates. But whatever you choose to feed your pet, you can still get some of the raw goodness and benefits by adding bones or chunks of meat to your existing menu – come and ask me about it.

Of course, treating your pet properly also refers to the treats that we give and it’s important to pick the right one for each reward. This means a tasty, but relatively low-key biscuit for a routine task, something a little more exciting for a challenging command, and a tasty meaty bite for great behaviour such as recall or not being reactive. It also covers long-lasting chews or bones if you want to occupy your dog for a while, or a quick snack to settle at bedtime. Let me help you choose appropriate treats for your pets. Another way of treating your pet properly is looking after their health. Whether that’s settling an upset tummy, giving a joint supplement, preventing fleas, helping cool them in the heat, or being well-groomed. I offer advice and products for many common conditions, and can always look to get something in specially for you and your pet.

But treating your pet properly is more than just food, treats and supplements, it’s about thinking about their needs. Are they highly intelligent requiring mental stimulation? Are they ratters needing stronger toys to destroy? Are they lazy lurchers wanting a comfy bed? Are they a nervous dog needing support with separation anxiety? Do you have a fusspot eater or a demanding diva? Your pet’s breed and temperament will dictate how you treat them and, with decades of experience to hand, I’m here to help, whatever you may need. And this applies to wildlife as well, as I actively encourage everyone to help treat our collective pets properly too, whether that’s birds, hedgehogs or swans.

There is never a hard sell at Lulu’s; just lots of advice and ideas aimed at helping you treat your pet properly, whatever that means for you and your furry friend. Open 9am-5pm Monday-Friday, 9am-1pm Saturday, and 10am-1pm on the first Sunday of the month for the Farmer’s Market at 3A Market Square, Winslow, in the little alley next to The Bell.
